Official Bio:
9Million is a Toronto shoegaze band helmed by multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producerMatthew Tomasi. Best known for his work with alt-pop artists like Ethel Cain and NicoleDollanganger, Tomasi has also gained steady notoriety in his local music community for his work as a producer and mix engineer. A tireless creator and songwriter himself, Tomasi also plays and contributes creatively to the music of countless other bands and independent artists.Tomasi along with 6 other members complete the 9Million project which includes Ace Mendoza(Lead Guitar, Vocals), Danielle Clark (Vocals, Acoustic), Lia Lepre (Keys, Percussion), Jamie Fastlane (Bass), Noah Aviles-Betel (Drums), and Looch Man (Guitar, Vocals). Tomasi says9Million started out “as a creative outlet for myself to explore new sounds and ideas that I wasn’tt ouching on with any of my other projects or clients'', but quickly the project took on a collaborative spirit. With their sweeping guitars and introspective vocals, 9Million has grabbed theattention of Exclaim!, as a featured artist in their Class of 2025 concert series, and of Audiotree, who collaborated with the band to produce an Audiotree Live EP and performance video. Since the release of their 2023 EP “Gush”, 9Million have been touringall over North America supporting bands such as Glitterer, Cold Mega, Ethel Cain, Angel Du$t, Candy, and Fleshwater.
The sound of 9Million infuses a shoegaze / alt rock foundation with elements of brooding alternative pop, indie rock, and synthwave-resulting in something that recalls ahead of their time 90s bands like Hum and Failure while connecting that sound from the past to the modern world of post-Lana Del Rey slowcore pop sound that Tomasi uniquely infuses on records likePreacher’s Daughter, Natural Born Losers, and Married In Mount Airy.
